We are able to perform thorough eye examinations - including glaucoma screening - because we strictly limit the number of patients we book in per day.

The Practice

The Hammond Optical Practice was set up independently in May 1997 by husband and wife team Mark and Eimer Hammond BSc(Hons) MCOptom. Mark and Eimer both graduated from City University, London after attaining Honours degrees in Optometry and Visual Science in 1989. After working for a few independent opticians and at the Kent County Ophthalmic and Aural Hospital in Maidstone, they decided that it was time to set up their own independent practice.

Mark and Eimer are supported by receptionists Mrs Ann Hammond (Mark's mother) and Miss Elewys Thompson, by part-time Optometrist Angela Pascoe BSc(Hons) MCOptom, and by Dispensing Opticians Derek Griffiths FBDO and Jacqueline Neale FBDO.

Practice Opening Hours

Monday to Friday - 9.00am to 5.00pm
Saturday - 8.30am to 2.00pm

We do not usually close for lunch, but please telephone to check. We occasionally close early for staff training.
